For our regular partner, Poltava Mining and Processing Plant, we have manufactured the rotor group of the VM-20A fan.
We paid special attention to this project: all divisions of Kyiv Fan Plant were involved in its implementation. This is a real team effort that we are proud of!
What was done:
🏗️ We started with casting: We made cast iron billets for the support and steel billets for the impeller. Next came high-precision machining.
🛠️ Our CNC carousel and lathe machines can easily handle impellers up to 3 metres in diameter and shafts up to 3 metres in length, respectively. We used them to machine the main elements – with an accuracy of 0.005 mm
Dimensions of the entire installation: 2400×2100×2100 mm Chassis weight: up to 3 tonnes
🔩 SKF bearings with diameters of 340 and 320 mm – for heavy radial and moderate axial loads.
⚙️ Fan power: up to 900 kW, 1500 rpm, efficiency up to 0.85
Lubricant cooling: Works through a heat exchanger mounted in the oil bath. The units are lubricated with oil mist, the temperature is up to 80 °C.
🔗 Half couplings with damping inserts compensate for vibrations and unevenness in the joints.
Balancing is a particular source of pride for us: Thanks to the equipment and expertise of our team, we have achieved a balancing accuracy 10 times better than ISO standards.
This fan is not just metal. It’s a micron-scale engineering solution that works steadily, quietly and for a long time.
