A cyclone or simply a dust collector is a specific device used to clean gaseous mixtures or specific liquids from suspended impurities.
Cyclone NDIOGAZ (CN) type CN-15 is a universal class of dust collectors containing many specific models. They are designed for dry cleaning of air medium or other gaseous mixtures contaminated with various kinds of small particles in suspension, during such technological processes as fuel combustion, agglomeration, firing, crushing or grinding, or simply during normal drying, transportation of bulk materials (sawdust, ash, dried straw, etc.). Therefore, cyclones CN-15 are widely demanded both at the enterprises of oil refining, woodworking, chemical industries, in ferrous/non-ferrous metallurgy, and in power engineering, mechanical engineering, in the production of building materials.
Construction and consumables
Components of cyclones of class CN-15:
- casing;
- inlet pipe;
- hopper;
- exhaust pipe.
Cyclones operating at working environment temperatures not exceeding +40°С are made of carbon steel. Dust collectors designed for operation in temperature conditions below -40°С are made strictly of low-alloy steels. The choice of the angle of inclination of the inlet pipe in relation to the horizontal direction is determined by the properties of the contaminants to be collected.
Dust collecting equipment is made of two types: conventional and explosion-proof. In the latter case, the design of the installation is equipped with safety valves, and the hopper is made smaller to avoid the concentration of explosive dust in it. To increase the service life, additional sheets are welded to the outer walls of such dust collectors, both in the inlet of the “snail” and at the bottom of the cone. It is not recommended to use a cyclone, the diameter of the inner part of which is less than eight hundred millimeters, to capture abrasive particles, as in this case premature wear is inevitable. This value determines the flow rate of the gas mixture to be cleaned at its optimum speed.
Cyclones of class CN-15 are made in single or group design. In the first version, the diameter of the device is in the range from 300 to 1400 mm. In the other, there is an installation of eight, six, four, two devices in a set – battery cyclones, the diameter of which is the same and varies from 300 to 1000 mm to ensure the first and subsequent stages of purification.
Cyclones CN-15 are available with right- and left-directional rotation of the gas flow. The unit in single version works only in the right direction. The left-hand direction in this case is performed only under the individual order. Gas cleaning units working in a group are equipped with a special chamber for collecting already purified gas, called “snail” or simply “collector”. A single unit, as a rule, is equipped only with a “snail”. The hopper of the dust collecting equipment has a pyramidal configuration.
However, although these units are versatile, unfortunately, their use for cleaning humid air, in which there is a possibility of condensation, as well as capturing sticky and fibrous dust, is excluded. It is strictly forbidden to use this equipment for cleaning toxic environments.
Principle of operation
In cyclones of this class, the dust suspension is captured under the influence of centrifugal force, which arose at the tangential direction of the gas flow into the body at high speeds. The suspension sits on the walls of the cyclone, and the gas velocity at the outlet of the annular gap decreases markedly. The value of the latter becomes much less than the speed of rotating impurities. In the center of the installation, the gas movement turns one hundred and eighty degrees. Under the influence of already inertial forces, the dust is finally separated from the gas, settling to the bottom of the body, then falling into the hopper, where the dirt is collected. Cyclones of class CN-15 can be placed both on the supply and suction sections of the gas cleaning system.
During the operation of cyclones of class CN-15 continuous or periodic discharge of contaminants should be provided. The upper level of dust in the hopper should be four hundred millimeters below the plane of its lid. These cyclones can be installed both indoors and outdoors.
