Universal cyclone CP-2 is used for cleaning large volumes of air (from 17 thousand m3) in order to separate dust from it. This equipment is designed for air filtration after drying systems or when burning solid fuels in a pulverized state. They are widely used in pneumatic transport systems and for flue gas cleaning.

The basic design of the cyclone CP – 2 includes:
- Inlet pipe + flange + safety valve;
- Body: cylindrical part – 1/3 + conical – 2/3 of the total length;

In a cyclone for purification of gas mixtures, a direct contaminated flow through the duct enters a cylindrical compartment, in which, due to the tangential introduction, it becomes a vortex. The foreign particles are affected by centrifugal force, throwing them with great force to the walls, from which the latter fall down the cone to the discharge opening. At the outlet, this figure is significantly reduced to 4-6. The resistance of cyclone type devices is kept in the range of 40 – 90 mm of water column. The efficiency of capturing dust inclusions depends on their size. Large particles – more than 70 microns are captured completely, smaller particles – from 20 to 70 microns are captured by 94 – 97 percent, the interval (10 – 20) microns – by 60 – 80 percent, and a suspension of less than 10 microns is released into the atmosphere by 90 – 55 percent. The efficiency of such equipment depends on its size. Equipment with smaller geometric dimensions works more efficiently. Therefore, it is more expedient to combine cyclones with diameters of 0.4 – 1.2 m into groups. In the family of such cyclones, the dedusting result improves from 50 percent to 65-70 percent.
Specific cyclones CP-2 are designed for use mainly at rather large enterprises. They are engaged in cleaning the air space from solid contaminants in suspension, flue gases resulting from the processing of fuel raw materials.
