SIOT

The SIOT high-speed washer is recommended for cleaning of dusty air in exhaust air installations from various types of wetted dusts, except for cementitious and fibrous dusts, as well as condensation aerosols.

Marking of the speed washer class SIOT
Example of designation – “SIOT – 6”, Where:
- “SIOT” is a development of the Sverdlovsk Institute of Occupational Safety and Health;
- «6» – dust collector number.
Structural advantages
Main assemblies of the washer:
- the cylindrical part of the body;
- the conical part of the body;
- Promoter;
- water supply system.
SIOT class washer is a wet direct flow dust collector. High-speed cleaners of SIOT class are designed for cleaning of contaminated air from wettable dusts of different kinds in air extraction systems. Exceptions are cementing, fibrous dusts, condensation aerosols.
Structural difference of the high-speed washer of SIOT class consists in the specific design of the bottom and the shape of the inlet opening of the cleaned medium, which provides a better organization of the water curtain falling from the upper edge of the lower part of the inlet opening. The bottom is a helical surface in the shape of a cone with the apex located on the axis of the washer. The inlet spigot changes its configuration from a circular cross-section to a triangular one. A ledge indicates the boundary between the wet and dry surfaces of the washer. The drain spigot in the bottom, the inclined flasher drains the sludge. Cleaned air exits the flusher bypassing the flusher-twist. There is a special valve for adjusting the system when adjusting. The inlet/outlet spigots can be installed at any angle one to the other.
The SIOT class washers are available in left-handed/right-handed versions. The air movement in the first version is against the movement of the clock hand, the second – in the direction of movement.
Capacity in SIOT class washer models varies from 12500 to 280000 m3/h, diameter of cylindrical part – from 1344 to 5400 millimeters. The water pressure before entering the nozzles of the upper zone of the unit must be 1 kgf/m2. The recommended air velocity at the round inlet section varies between 14 ÷ 20 m/s. These washers are used to clean the air with initial dust contaminant content up to 5000 mg/m3. The SIOT class high-speed washers have an air purification efficiency of 95% for particles up to five microns, particles larger than that are separated from the air by more than 99%.
Principle of operation
Contaminants are captured by settling them due to the action of centrifugal force on the internal wet walls of the unit as well as by rinsing the air stream with sprayed water. The main part of the water flows through nozzles to the upper area of the unit on the water distribution ring. It flows off of it, wetting the internal walls of the unit, while another part enters the lower area of the unit through the lower nozzle. Water flowing down the walls together with the dust enters the bottom – a screw cone. Between its two halves there is a triangular hole. An additional air flow enters through it. It drags along the direction of its rotation the water caught in the bottom in the upper part of the cover, from which it slides onto the air stream entering from above into the washer. As it comes in contact with this liquid, it atomizes it and carries it into the center of the unit. The precipitated slurry enters the drain spigot, and the remaining water continues to circulate through the unit multiple times. This technology allows the most effective retention of dust inclusions inside the unit, thus preventing their release with the already cleaned air to the outside. Due to the described effects (centrifugal separation plus air spraying with atomized water) SIOT class washers are more effective in separating fine dust fractions than cyclones with a water film.
Benefits
The advantage of the SIOT class high-speed washers over the wet-film Dust Collector class is that the removal of dust contaminants is done by cleaning the space with water.
Area of application
Speed washers of SIOT class are in demand for purification of dusty air from wettable dust of different types in exhaust ventilation installations, aspiration systems. Exceptions are cementing, fibrous dusts, condensing aerosols.
Features of operation
The SIOT class washer shall be installed on a metal base. The distance from the floor to the bottom point of the bottom should be two and a half meters. It is possible to install the washers on the floors of industrial buildings. It is recommended to mount them in front of the fan (suction process), in this case it is necessary to provide water drainage from the lower part of the fan casing.
