UCM-38

Cyclones UCM-38 are designed to collect fine dust in pneumatic conveying systems and aspiration units. They are widely used and relevant in hulling and milling departments of cereal and flour mills for air purification from flour dust. Cyclones are equipped, if necessary, with a snail on the exhaust pipe, or an umbrella: it all depends on the location of the fan and on the need for protection against precipitation, which, if it gets into the system, adversely affect its operation.

Marking
Cyclone “UCM-38 – 750”, where:
- “U” – universality;
- “C” – unit – cyclone;
- “M” – modernized;
- “38” – inclination of the inlet flow of dusty flue gases, °;
- “750” – diameter of the cylinder cavity, mm.
Cyclones of the UCM-38 class are designed to collect fine solid inclusions at the enterprises for processing, cereals production, in aspiration units and pneumatic transport systems in order to prevent environmental pollution by production waste. Cyclones of class UCM-38 are the modernized version of class UC-38.
Structural advantages
Standard cyclones of UCM-38 class are designed to work with non-aggressive contaminated media at ambient temperatures in the range – minus 40 ÷ plus 40 ° C. Proceeding from this, cyclones of UCM-38 class are made of carbon steel. For operation at ambient temperatures below minus 40 ° C these units are made of low-alloy steels, for cleaning aggressive mixture – of stainless steel.
The difference of this cyclone from the earlier version of the UC-38 is the presence of a dust and gas mixture inside the spiral spinner. For convenience of arrangement or facilitation of grouping of cyclones into one system, cyclones of class UCM-38 are produced of right and left versions. The flow rate of the cleaned air flow in the models of cyclones of UCM-38 class varies from 170 to 2330 m3/h, the diameter of the cylindrical section is 250÷850 millimeters.
The principle of operation
Dusty air is supplied inside the unit body at high speed through the side inlet pipe. As a result of the forced swirling of the flow, the process of collecting dust particles in the cyclone of the UCM-38 class is carried out due to the appearance of centrifugal forces. The foreign solid suspension under their influence is directed to the walls of the casing, and then moves through the cone into the hopper. The air flow, which is thus rid of contaminants, is discharged into the atmosphere at a reduced speed through the cyclone outlet.
Advantages
The use of the spinner gives the class of cyclones UCM-38 certain advantages:
- purification efficiency reaches 99.5%;
- high productivity;
- reduction of aerodynamic losses;
reliability.
Field of application
Cyclones of UCM-38 class are in demand in hulling, crushing, grinding shops of cereal and flour mills. These units are also used at woodworking enterprises to filter technological emissions from small sawdust, shavings, non-fibrous and non-sticky inclusions, grinding dust. Being universal devices, cyclones of UCM-38 class are also used in agriculture, textile, food industries, energy and other areas.
Features of installation and operation
Cyclones of class UCM-38 are made in climatic design UHL, which corresponds to the conditions of temperate and cold climates, when used in categories of placement 1, 2, 3, 4 in accordance with the requirements of GOST 15150-96, in aspiration systems of production categories B, C, D, D for explosion and fire safety. Cyclones of UCM-38 class are mounted on both suction and discharge sides of the fan.
This is specified in the design documents for construction. Accordingly, it is necessary to install a “snail” or “umbrella”. When installing the cyclone, its maintenance, special attention is paid to sealing the duct system to avoid burn injuries to workers. The temperature of the outer insulating surface above + 45 ° C is unacceptable.
