Purpose of cyclones C-1320

Cyclones C-1320 are mainly used in pneumatic conveying systems at woodworking plants and mills. Their direct purpose is mechanical collection of wood waste (shavings, sawdust, wood and grinding dust). Cyclones of type C are designed for air purification from medium and fine dust, which is formed during the processing of wood materials, are able to work effectively with large volumes of air and at the same time provide a degree of purification from 90 to 97%, depending on the materials with which the unit will work and the diameter of the cyclone itself.

It is not recommended to use this unit when working with dust that has a fibrous structure and a high percentage of cohesion.

Design of cyclones C-1320

The general structural scheme of the cyclone is a vertical prefabricated welded cylindrical structure with a conical taper downwards.  The cyclone consists of a cylindrical body and a conical body, connected by flanges (flanges are also supporting); inlet and outlet nozzles; exhaust outlet with a connecting flange in the conical part.

Cyclones type C, as well as other similar units, can be equipped with a storage hopper for dust waste. The parameters of the hopper: volume, geometric shape, cost, etc. depend on the wishes of the customer. For efficient and trouble-free operation of the cyclone, it is necessary to ensure regular, timely cleaning of the storage hopper from the dust collected in it. If this is not done, the hopper will soon clog, which will affect the operation of the entire system and sharply reduce its performance. It is necessary to ensure that the level of dust collected in the hopper does not exceed the permissible norm. It is also necessary to periodically inspect the unit for various mechanical and other damages and, if necessary, eliminate them.

Performance of cyclones C-1320

Cyclones are made both right-handed (when viewed from above, the direction of air flow in the cyclone is clockwise) and left-handed (when viewed from above, the direction of air flow in the cyclone is counterclockwise). The dusty air through the inlet pipe enters the annular space between the casing wall and the inner pipe of the cyclone and moves to the conical part of the casing by rotational motion. Under the action of centrifugal force, dust particles, moving radially, are pressed against the walls of the housing. The air freed from dust goes out through the separator into the inner pipe, and the dust enters the collection hopper.

Operating conditions of cyclones C-1320

Cyclones are designed for dry cleaning of dust-air mixtures with maximum pressure up to 250 kg/m2 and temperature up to 200 °С from wood waste (chips, sawdust, dust). The optimum air velocity in the cyclone is 16 - 20 m/s, while the cyclone resistance reaches 830 - 1300 Pa. The aggressiveness of the dust-air mixture in relation to carbon steel of ordinary quality should not be higher than the aggressiveness of air (corrosion rate not higher than 0.1 mm/year). The purified gas-air mixture may contain dust particles up to 20 microns in size.
