Cyclones UC or universal cyclones are designed for cleaning technological atmospheric emissions of woodworking industry enterprises from non-sticky, non-fibrous solid inclusions, as well as mixtures consisting of wood dust, shavings, dry sawdust. The purpose of the cyclones UC is to clean the air from dust contaminants formed during the processing of wood, wood materials, as well as from dried sawdust and chips. This line is in no way intended to remove sticky or fibrous small solid fragments from the air environment.

Design advantages and raw materials

Cyclones of class UC are produced in accordance with GOST 15150-69 in climatic version UHL in conditions of application according to the categories of placement from the first to the fourth in aspiration complexes of technological productions with categories B, C, D and E for explosive, fire and explosion hazard in accordance with the collection of documents SNiP P-90-81. Consumables of dust collecting devices are carbon steels and stainless steels.

A typical UC cyclone has a cylindrical body with a lower part in the form of a cone, a nozzle at the inlet and a pipe at the outlet. The diameter of the inner part of the casing is the cyclone caliber.

UC cyclones are of left and right directional design. In the first variant, the rotation of the contaminated flow inside the cyclone is counterclockwise, if you are guided by the exhaust pipe, in the second – vice versa.

How does the cyclone of the UC class work?

Air containing a suspension of dust with sawdust and shavings enters the inlet opening and continues its path in a tangential direction to the inner surface of the cylindrical part of the dust collector. Contaminants move in a spiral with the speed of the air flow inside the cyclone at a speed of three to seven meters per second. Moreover, the number of revolutions is from three to nine times. During the rotation, the particles, which, due to the centrifugal force, quickly find themselves on the walls of the casing, subsequently fall through the outlet of the cyclone cone into the storage hopper. Under the influence of excess pressure, the purified air rises rapidly to the exhaust.

The efficiency / effectiveness of the dust collecting unit is directly related to the ratio of the internal dimensional values of the cylindrical section of the body and the ratio of the dimensional values of the cone and the cylinder. In the manufacture of such devices, the optimal proportions are taken into account, which contribute to the maximum cleaning of the incoming contaminated flow and the minimum suction of contaminants from the hopper. Installation of cyclones of the UC series takes place both on the discharge and on the suction sections of the duct. In the first case, it is necessary to install a ventilation umbrella. In the second, you need to install a snail.

For the proper functioning of the system, a harmonious combination of elements is created:

• umbrella;
• duct connecting the device itself with the umbrella;
• the length of the system, including all elements;
• air lifting height;
• fan capacity and pressure.

It should be remembered that a properly balanced system is able to work several times longer, providing uninterrupted debugged and durable operation of the UC series cyclone.

When installing cyclone equipment and during its maintenance, due attention should be paid to the tightness of the system with supply/exhaust air ducts and the quality of the surfaces of the internal passage of the air medium.

When operating cyclones, it is necessary to strictly observe safety measures – contact with highly heated hot dust, gases, ash and surfaces of the units is fraught with severe burns. To prevent this, the surfaces of the cyclones must be insulated.

As the hopper is filled with captured contaminants to three quarters of its volume, it must be released. Cyclone class UC is installed both in the building and outside it, in the open air. When cleaning hot gaseous mixtures, the consumer is obliged to perform thermal insulation of both the unit itself and the supply gas ducts.
